| | First ever post here, International SCOUT...help much needed.
Like the title stated I am new here and this is my first ever post, so please bear with me. I am interested in buying an international scout. I really don't want to re-invent the wheel so I thought I would ask for help. If you could please tell me the do's and don'ts about scouts, any problems you have experienced buying one (or any 4x4 for that matter), good places to buy them from, are any years better or more reliable than any others?, scout or scout II?, common problems with scouts? etc etc. Any and all information will greatly appreciated. Is this even the correct forum to post this question in? Thanks again, Mark

Thanks for the lead Gerry. Parts are not my problem, finding one is. I am in Connecticut and most of the ones I come across are either A. Rusted to all hell. B. Parts trucks C. completly restored already with asking prices of of $12,000 and up or D. So damn far away that the shipping costs are through the roof. So if anyone reading this thread knows of one in my area (other than Craigslist or ebay, because I check them daily) Please don't hesitate to let me know. I am very motivated to buy.

Yeah Gerry I saw that one on ebay. My parents are in Florida and I even have them looking around for me. I have my eye on three right now ranging from 75-79, all within 4 hrs of me. The one I really want I can't get the owner to return my calls or e-mails, so I am assuming he sold it already. I am trying to get one of the guys from the firehouse to trailer it for me. I haven't even looked into how much it costs to have it shipped, I am trying to keep the overall costs as low as possible so when the inevitable "unforseen" happens I'll have some cash. Plus I am also planning on swapping out the old retangular gauges of the IIs for the round ones on the 800s. Someone already said that they make dashes/gauge clusters that will fit the IIs. And all three are going to need new tires and vaying degrees of rust abatement. Thanks for the heads up!
