Smog pump to Air Compressor?

I've heard that the stock smog pump can be made into an aircompressor. has anyone done this? I've heard of the AC pump bein fabbed for the same purpose. any help on either would be apreciated. Thanx, Norm

Nope - it's strictly a low-pressure hi-flow device, much like a fan. It'won't make any pressure. If you ever have the opportunity to crack one open, you'll see.

Rick Pewe (or one of the other guys) wrote an article in one of Petersen's mags about using A/C compressors for air a few years ago. It might have been in the old 4x4 Power or maybe 4WOR. He compared flow, pressure, price, & durability and discussed options & installation.

A member of the BB mailing list tried this and determined the stock air pump wouldn't exceed 15psi.
