Hello every one. I'm very interested in off-roadn. I first started liking it year ago after my buddy took me to "the back ponds" to go mudding. It was awesome! I enjoyed all the little trials we did and such. I recently just bought a Toyota Tacoma twin-cab TRD and was wondering what should be the first mod that I should put on it? What's the best for my money? I'm not interested in hill climbing just going through mud and little trails. I'll soon lift it 4 inches, but that's not my first priority. So, any feedback and such would be awesome.

Thanks,
Mister4x4 :)

Making a choice

Hi everyone, I need a little help in making a decision. I am stuck in the middle of a 84 Dodge ramcharger(318 V8 auto 4X4) and a 79 Scout II(345 V8 auto 4X4). I am new to any kind of 4WD vehicle and just looking for basically a toy. I must admit that the Scout has my eye. With the Internationals history and apparent durability I am pretty much sold. My only concern is parts availability when necessary, everyone I have spoke to leans towards the Dodge except for a few Scout zealots. So my question is, in the opinions of the well informed readers and contributors of this forum what would be a good choice for a beginner like myself who will probably never see anything more than a mud hole on the back forty. Also any pros or cons to support your opinions would be greatly appreciated. I will be moving on one or the other this evening or tomorrow morning

Hey guys, I am wanting to mount my laptop into my jeep, so I can do video, GPS, and 'net stuff while off road... is there any that you guys have used? I found a good middle priced laptop mount that seems pretty durable and says it's universal? Just wondering before I buy if there are better ones or if any has advice.. The mount I am talking about is this one 'http://www.dura-mounts.com' (http://www.dura-mounts.com), it is called the Onyx laptop mount.. seems pretty cool..

So any help would be great thanks!

Lifted 4runner shift stick help

Im looking into purchasing a '93 4runner thats been lifted ~5.5 inches. He did something to extend the shift nob up to normal height, but he did not extend the 4x4 engagement rod so it is super low and very hard to get into 4 low. Also, i guess because of the boots placement it puts a lot of pressure on the stick and makes it jump out of gear sometimes.. and it also makes it harder to shift cause i have to fight the boot. Is this fixable?

Chiko

Edit add:

Also, while im here, it has oversized tires so the speedometre is off.. How do i fix that also?

I really don't want to re-invent the wheel so I thought I would ask for help. If you could please tell me the do's and don'ts about scouts, any problems you have experienced buying one (or any 4x4 for that matter), good places to buy them from, are any years better or more reliable than any others?, scout or scout II?, common problems with scouts? etc etc. Any and all information will greatly appreciated. Is this even the correct forum to post this question in? Thanks again, Mark

Hey guys,
I am trying to decide on a good, all-purpose off-road vehicle. I would like something that is both beach and mud capable that has a little room to carry cargo. I believe the Samurai and some of the smaller Jeeps are out due to their size. Based on my budget, I have narrowed it down to an older Jeep Cherokee or K5 Blazer. I have about $5,000 to spend. What do you recommend? Besides models, what years should I consider? I live out in VA.
