Default straight pipes on a diesel?

I was just wondering about the advantages/disadvantages of putting straight pipes on a diesel. I have a '99 Dodge auto 4x4. I don't mind if I lose a few horses, as long as my truck sounds louder. Noise doesn't matter to me since I crank up the radio anyway. Also, will have dual exhausts instead of a single tailpipe make it any louder or about the same.

Blackdog, there is not a lot of info regarding diesals on this sight. For some more detailed info you could check out this.

As far as sound, it will make the truck louder. You shouldn't lose much if any power. best recomendation before you start making mods to your truck is to add a set of guages. that way you can see what your truck is telling you. With a diesal, you have to worry about things like EGT and fuel pressure. The above is a search i did for "staight pipe" you can visit this like to browse throught the forums.
