Default lift kits?? WHICH ONE?

ok, I've been checking out various lift kits, and am overwhelmed about which one to get.
Some say they're kits ( add-a-leafs and blocks).
Some say they're systems (NEW leaf springs).
Not sure which one to get, I'm sure my springs are a little saggy, because of age, and the 440 under the hood ;-).
Prices between kits varies little, but systems are as much as $200 more (new spring cost I'm sure).
Next question, is what size lift?
Again, I have a 1977rc w/ 440 magnum, 33 x 12.5 tires & 3.55's.
Superlift comes in 5" - kit or system, $430-$624 respectively. Trailmaster 4"- kit $358. Skyjacker 4"-6" kit $315-$337. Rough Country 4"- kit $350<<but I've heard some things I don't like about them>>>.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know you guys got it going on in the experience department.....and I'm still a newbie :-)
Thanks for your time guys. and for your time, IFINALLY GOT SOME PICS OF MY TRK, HERE'S A SAMPLE, SEE ATTACHED ;-)

Don't know about the leaf truck kits, but I can say my new (lifted) rear springs were worth the extra $$$ if for no other reason than the improved ride and articulation.

Probably won't go wrong with any of the lifts you have listed. Most of them incorporate new front leaf springs and blocks for the rear. And the weight of the 440 mag shouldn't be a problem - there's little noticable sag on my '84 3/4 ton when i have the snowblade attached. Mine has 5" superlift front springs and re-arched rear springs plus a new steering arm and adjustable drag link. I can't remember who made the arm and drag link but I can find out if you want. Getting the steering right on a lifted truck is number one priority in my book. And a steering stablizer is a must. Hope this helps some.

Thnx 4 the input, you say you had the rear re-arched, who would do that, welding shop, or do I have to send them off to be done?
Yes, please find out who made your arm & adjustable drag link ( if you don't mind). After I figure the total cost of front springs, re- arched rear, steering arm, and adjustable drag link, and compare to kits-systems,I'll make the decision. Since I added the 33's, I noticed a little more road walk, think I'll check out the steering stabilizers too, thnx for the help. If you can think of anything else , let me know. 8:~)

A spring shop did the re-arching. I wouldn't recommend it unless you got lots of time for taking them back and forth till it's just right. It works but it was a p.i.a. I'll try and dig out the other info for you this weekend. I'd say the steering stabilizer falls in the "must have" category. And when mine was "walking" all over the road it was because the toe-in was off. Had an alignment shop align the front end and it tracks straight and true now. Once you get the lift installed and all the other crap bolted in place I'd definitely have an alignment shop familiar with 4x4's align it.

You brought up the difference between a <font color=red>Lift Kit</font color=red> and a <font color=green>Lift System</font color=green>.

I may be wrong but I think a lift kit has all the parts needed to lift your truck.

A lift system has all that and the extras like shocks and whatever else it needs, usually just shocks though. (Not brake lines)

That is what I learned from ordering my lift from 4WPW for my Toy. Only thing was that I ordered the System and they forgot to send me the shocks anyway. 4WP sucks!

Whatever kit you purchase, get one which replaces the rear springs and eliminates the factory rear blocks. It costs a little more but has big benifits. You get to scrap the worn out factory spring...an add-a-leaf will work but tend to sag when put into a old spring pack which has lost its arch. Eliminating the factory lift block will reduce wheel hop and make for a stouter overalll set-up. I have a Rough Country 4in system and really like it.

Well dude I apologize. I couldn't find any of the info on the steering arm and drag link. I looked all over the pig pen that doubles as my garage and couldn't find crap. I'll look again when I get a chance.
