Default Speedometer/ servo

The forum is cool lookin'

I have an '87 RC, the speedometer doesn't work. I have checked everything.
The gear is good at the trany, the cable is good. This thing has two
cables, one from the trany to a servo, then one from the servo to the
speedometer. I can spin the first cable and get the plastic fitting
for the second one in the servo to spin, I can also turn the second
one and get the speedometer to work. When I put it together.nothing.
First what is that damned servo for and can I just by-pass it? ( it
has some type of elec. conection) Second there is a set screw on the
servo under a plug, what does that do if anything.
Any help would be great, thanks

Default Re: Speedometer/ servo

How's it going? I assume you have cruise control-that would be what the servo unit is (it's mounted up on the driver's side inner fender?) If you can get the cable from the tranny to the cruise unit to turn and turning the output cable turns the speedo that has to be it.
There is a screw under the electrical plug on the servo that is the lock-in screw-adjusts the speed that the cruise holds when you set it (according to my '86 FSM anyway).

Hope this helps.
