California Corkscrew July 17th, 2014 - 8th Annual FJ Summit Event
The scenery on the California Corkscrew trail is some of the best in America. The trail starts out in a thick forest but quickly climbs above the tree line opening up to views of lush green meadows littered with old mining remains. We made a stop at an old ghost town named Animus Forks so we could explore some of the old mining buildings. We all tried to imagine the early settlers walking their burros from the town of Silverton each day.
After our stop we continued on to the Corkscrew part of the trail with breathtaking views of Como Lake followed by the towering bright red San Juan Mountains.
