Default tech,, longs hub gear replacement

well they are expensive, but they are the only way that you can get the life time garantee on the axles.. I found that after I bought the axles. If your hub breaks and strips the end of the shaft.. you have to buy new. but if you spend the OTHER 130.00 for two of these gears you are golden. so since I have two toys to support It cost me double.

but no more worries of front axle failure.

these things are well a bioutch to replace. it is the inner hub gear so you have to pull the whole hub off to replace it.. that includes this inner hub snap ring that gave me fits on the first side for oh.... about 2 hours.. yeh a snap ring.. had paper towels. 2x2 wood. anything that I could think of to hold the gear ring thing out there. first side 2 hours the second side it snapped right in.. less then two min..

I hope that you are lucky and it snaps right in like the second one did... uhggggggggggggggg.

one hundred and thirty bucks...

two hundred and sixty bucks..... yeh get that...

hub.. enough said.

remove these bolts. tire , and the bolts that hold the hub on.. yeh.. I really love cone washers untill I am taking them off...
tightened all the stud's at this point.... I was a bit socked that they were all loose.

LOVE AND HATE OF CONE WASHERS. they are awesome.. to a point.

picture of the inner hub gear...

Snap ring from Hell.

yeh this one....

done... looks good huh.. that is the part that pisses me off.... all that work.. money,,, and no one can tell that you just made a major up- grade.

like lockers,, transfer case gears.. you just Can't see them like the bling rims.. or bling tires..... super swamper sx are the shait... man like a tractor tire.. these things take a beating and come right back for more..

man this inner hub gear to make the life time warranty.. they should come with the axles. but don't...

I like the upgrades that no one can see.... cause no one looks at my truck and thinks about stealing it! Same reason I'm careful about what stickers I put on it.... I don't want to advertise all the money I have in it. (Not that it's much yet....)

Here's a hub rebuild I did a while ago, goes well with this thread. I saw those on the Longs website the other day, funny how this popped up right now!
