98 expedition question..

I can get a 98 expedition for $500 its got a mint body and interior but the motor is toast (180k) leaks oil really bad and has a death rattle.. Anyway a friend of mine has a 00 crown vic 4.6 with 400 miles on it sitting in his garage he bought a long time ago for his truck and ended up not needing it... came out of a totaled police cruiser... anyways would i be able to use it in the expy? or not? i can get the motor fairly cheap since its my friend and i know its what he says it is...
